If you attend a baseball game and don’t take a selfie, were you even there?
There’s no question that a selfie can be a fun souvenir of your visit, as well as something you can share on social media during the game. To take a good selfie, you want a decent light source, the right pose and the perfect backdrop. At any ballpark you visit, it’s important to spend some time assessing your backdrop options so that you choose the right one.
Here are five perfect places to snap a selfie at Globe Life Field in Arlington.
1. The North Plaza
Although there are lots of ways to get into Globe Life Field, the gates in the North Plaza are the most popular choice for fans. This area is in the heart of Texas Live! complex, so you may hear live music and smell barbecue wafting through the air while you wait in line. There are lots of good selfie backdrop options in this area. Try using the enormous Globe Life Field signage overhead, the Nolan Ryan statue or the Texas Rangers logo made of bricks.
2. The Center Field Viewing Platform
One of the most unique areas in Globe Life Field is the viewing platform that is situated high above center field. It’s an area that you might initially miss as you make your way around the concourse, but taking the stairs up to this space truly gives you a bird’s-eye view of the field. Rarely are you able to get so high above the playing surface of a ballpark, so it’s a good idea to document the occasion with a selfie.
3. The Giant Bobbleheads
Statues tend to make good selfie backdrops, but enormous bobbleheads are arguably even more fun. Globe Life Field has giant bobbleheads of Ivan Rodriguez, Adrian Beltre and Michael Young near the kids’ play area on the second level. There are all sorts of creative poses to try. Beltre is holding his batting helmet aloft; try positioning your head to make it look like he’s placing the helmet on your head.
4. The Boomstick
The Boomstick is a notorious concession item available at Globe Life Field, consisting of a two-foot hot dog loaded with many messy toppings. It’s one of the most eye-catching stadium foods you’ll ever come across. You don’t need to order The Boomstick to get a selfie with it. A sample is on display at one of the concession stands on the third base side of the 100 Level. You’ll be certain to get social media comments when you use The Boomstick as your backdrop.
5. The North Windows
There are lots of enormous windows around the perimeter of Globe Life Field, giving fans a good view of the area outside of the park. The windows on the north side of the stadium are especially noteworthy because they allow you to see Choctaw Stadium. That’s the present-day name of the former Globe Life Park, which was home to the Rangers from 1994 to 2019. It’s a rare opportunity to take a selfie in one big league ballpark that offers a view of a former big league park, so you can’t miss this chance.
