If you attend a baseball game and don’t take a selfie, were you even there?
There’s no question that a selfie can be a fun souvenir of your visit, as well as something you can share on social media during the game. To take a good selfie, you want a decent light source, the right pose and the perfect backdrop. At any ballpark you visit, it’s important to spend some time assessing your backdrop options so that you choose the right one.
Here are five perfect places to snap a selfie at Rogers Centre in Chicago.
1. The CN Tower
One of the most impressive architectural marvels in the world, the CN Tower is visible to baseball fans at Rogers Centre when the roof is open. Even though the tower isn’t linked to baseball, it’s unquestionably the best selfie backdrop at the Toronto stadium. You can see the 1,815-foot tower looming overhead from several areas throughout the park. A seat on the third base side positions you perfectly to have the tower behind you. You’ll likely have to contort yourself if you want the top of the tower to be visible in your shot.
2. The Roof
When it opened in 1989, SkyDome was the first stadium in the world with a retractable roof. It’s a thrill to watch the roof open or close even if you’ve seen it dozens of times, but it’s especially cool to witness for the first time. If you happen to be at the ballpark when the roof is in motion, wait until the gap is small and then position yourself accordingly. If you want to have a little fun, set up your selfie to look like the roof is about to pinch your head. π
3. The WestJet Flight Deck
The WestJet Flight Deck is a two-level party deck in center field that is open to all fans, which gives it a fun and festive vibe. For a selfie, this spot is ideal because you can position yourself directly in line with the pitcher’s mound and home plate. Whether you hustle to this area while the field is empty or you snap a selfie with a crowd around you and the game taking place, you’ll have a memorable shot.
4. The Hotel
One of Rogers Centre’s defining traits is its hotel that sits high above the outfield, providing guests with luxury rooms that give them a unique view of the game. This hotel isn’t cheap, but if you stay in the Toronto Marriott City Centre hotel and get a field-facing room, you can’t miss the opportunity to grab a selfie from this spot. It’s exciting to have a ballpark selfie before the ballpark’s gates even open.
5. The Bullpens
Rogers Centre went through an extensive renovation prior to the 2023 season, including drastic changes to the bullpens. Most notably, the bullpens were raised to gives fans a better viewing angle of pitchers as they warm up. Now, you can stand just a few feet away from either team’s pitcher as he gets his tosses in. Selfies with players in the background are always fun. If you can grab a spot along the rail at either bullpen, you can get a selfie with a big leaguer behind you.
