Although he’s dealt with some nagging injuries throughout his career, former number one draft pick Bryce Harper has earned an impressive number of accolades — two-time National League MVP, seven-time All-Star, two-time Silver Slugger, and more. He’s already hit more than 300 career home runs, including many that have soared high and deep.
In this list, we’re counting down the longest home runs of Harper’s career, according to Statcast. Statcast tracks home runs back to 2015. (All videos appear courtesy of MLB.)
Here are the 10 longest home runs of Bryce Harper’s career to date.
9 (t). 458 feet: April 2, 2019, at Nationals Park
Harper hit 184 home runs as a member of the Nationals, but this list begins with Harper victimizing his former team as a member of the Phillies. The home run in question, hit on April 2, 2019, was his third long ball of the still-young season. Harper lifted a slider from Jeremy Hellickson deep to right-center field, sending the baseball into the second deck. The 458-foot home run left Harper’s bat at 111.5 mph.
9 (t). 458 feet: July 16, 2019, at Citizens Bank Park
Only two home runs — both hit by Harper himself — traveled farther at Citizens Bank Park in 2019 than the one he hit on July 16. Facing Dodgers starter Walker Buehler, Harper found himself in a 2-1 hitters’ count and ripped a fastball with an exit velocity of 107.6 mph. The baseball flew 458 feet, hitting the camera bay above the batter’s eye. It was his 17th home run of a season in which he hit 35.
8. 460 feet: June 2, 2022, at American Family Field
No home run hit at Milwaukee’s American Family Field in 2022 was longer than Harper’s on June 2. Harper connected with a low fastball from Brad Boxberger that soared to straightaway center field, audibly smacking off the video board high above the field. The baseball traveled 460 feet and left Harper’s bat at 110.2 mph. It was his 15th of the season.
6 (t). 461 feet: April 18, 2015, at Nationals Park
The oldest home run on this list is a dinger in April of 2015 that Harper hit while with the Nationals. Phillies pitcher Aaron Harang threw a sinker that Harper drove with an exit velocity of 109.6 mph to straightaway center. The baseball caromed off the batter’s eye, 461 feet from home plate. It was his longest home run up to that point in his career.
6 (t). 461 feet: August 17, 2016, at Coors Field
Harper’s 21st home run of 2016 was his longest of the season — a tremendous blast at the home run-friendly Coors Field. Harper drove a fastball from Christian Bergman 461 feet into the seats above the bullpen in right-center field, which is a spot that baseballs seldom reach. Harper’s exit velocity on his 21st home run of 2016 was 106.2 mph.
5. 465 feet: March 30, 2019, at Citizens Bank Park
Harper began his Phillies career with a bang, hitting his first home run with the club on Opening Day of 2019. On the third pitch he saw from Atlanta’s Jesse Biddle during a seventh-inning at-bat, Harper, connected with an exit velocity of 113.7 mph. The baseball soared into the second deck at Citizens Bank Park, landing 465 feet from home plate, and driving Phillies fans into a frenzy as they celebrated their new $330 million man.
4. 466 feet: May 18, 2019, at Citizens Bank Park
The longest home run hit at Citizens Bank Park in 2019 came off Harper’s bat on May 18. Harper cracked the first pitch he saw from Colorado’s Antonio Senzatela, a middle-of-the-zone heater, 466 feet onto Ashburn Alley in center field. The baseball left Harper’s bat at 114.1 mph, and was his eighth long ball of the season.
3. 468 feet: April 25, 2021, at Coors Field
Coors Field in Denver has a well-earned reputation for being a hotbed of home runs, and only six homers in 2021 were longer than the one Harper smacked in late April. Rockies starter Jon Gray missed the bottom of the zone with a changeup, but Harper connected and sent the baseball into orbit. The 468-foot blast flew into the seating deck above the bullpen in right-center field after leaving Harper’s bat at 108.8 mph.
2. 470 feet: August 22, 2020, at Truist Park
Harper hit the fourth-longest home run at Truist Park during the pandemic-shortened 2020 season — even if there were no fans present to witness it. The outfielder clobbered the first pitch he saw from Robbie Erlin, connecting with an exit velocity of 109.6 mph. The baseball flew 470 feet, landing in the upper third of the seats in right-center field.
1. 473 feet: May 4, 2018, at Nationals Park
The longest home run of Harper’s career came when he was wearing a Nationals uniform —specifically, the team’s stylish stars and stripes alternate jersey. Harper timed up a changeup from Philadelphia’s Nick Pivetta and drove the baseball onto the batter’s eye. The home run measured 473 feet and had an exit velocity of 112.1 mph.
