Atlanta first baseman Matt Olson put up the best offensive season of his career in 2023, hitting 54 home runs and registering 139 RBIs. Both figures were tops in the big leagues.

When a player hits as many home runs as Olson, some of them are bound to be tape-measure shots. Olson has hit many memorable blasts throughout his career — most recently, with Atlanta, but also with Oakland, where he spent the first six years of his career. In this list, we’re counting down the longest home runs of Olson’s career, according to Statcast. Here are the 10 longest home runs of Matt Olson’s career to date.

10. 450 feet: September 17, 2019, at Oakland Coliseum

Olson hit 36 home runs for Oakland in 2019, and it was his 35th of the season that flew the farthest. The home run was against Kansas City’s Jorge Lopez, who threw a middle-of-the-zone slider that Olson clobbered with an exit velocity of 110.2 mph. The 450-foot shot reached the seats above the batter’s eye in center field, topping Olson’s second-longest home run of 2019 by 16 feet.

9. 453 feet: August 6, 2023, at Wrigley Field

Ronald Acuña Jr. deservedly gets a lot of attention when people talk about the Braves, but during an August 6, 2023, game on the North Side of Chicago, it was Olson driving in Acuña Jr. with a big home run. Olson smacked a hanging slider from Justin Steele that flew 453 feet to the upper rows of the bleachers in right field. The home run was Olson’s 39th of the campaign and had an exit velocity of 110.1 mph.

7 (t). 454 feet: August 25, 2020, at Angel Stadium

Olson’s sixth home run of the pandemic-shortened 2020 MLB season was an absolute rocket hit off Angels starter Griffin Canning. The baseball, which left Olson’s bat at 111.1 mph, left Angel Stadium so quickly that right fielder Jo Adell had little time to do anything but turn and glance behind him. The 454-foot blast landed deep in the empty outfield seats.

7 (t). 454 feet: August 12, 2020, at Globe Life Field

Because of the pandemic, there were no Rangers fans in Globe Life Field when Olson stepped in to face Rangers starter Kyle Gibson during an August 12, 2020, matchup. That meant there were no groans from the Texas faithful as Olson crushed a slider with an exit velocity of 110.9 mph, sending the baseball 454 feet onto the tarped-off seats behind the bullpen in right-center field.

6. 455 feet: August 13, 2023, at Citi Field

It can be difficult to get a good swing on a pitch that is outside of the strike zone, but that’s exactly what Olson did against New York Mets reliever Brooks Raley. The lefty threw a down-and-in slider to Olson, but the slugger adjusted and connected with an exit velocity of 109.5 mph. The baseball flew 455 feet deep into the seats in right-center field, giving Olson his 43rd home run of 2023.

3 (t). 456 feet: June 1, 2018, at Kauffman Stadium

With his Oakland squad already leading 4-0 in the third inning of a tilt in June of 2018 against the Royals, Olson added some insurance runs in the form of a three-run blast. Olson turned around a fastball from Ian Kennedy, driving the baseball 456 feet into the water feature in deep center field. The home run had an exit velocity of 110.3 mph and was Olson’s 11th of a season in which he hit 29.

3 (t). 456 feet: May 24, 2023, at Truist Park

It takes a tremendous display of power to reach the Coors Light Chop House in right field at Truist Park, and that’s what Olson did for his 14th home run of 2023. The first baseman crushed a slider from Dodgers starter Tony Gonsolin with an exit velocity of 115.9 mph, driving the baseball onto the roof of the Chop House.

3 (t). 456 feet: June 15, 2023, at Truist Park

Olson produced a lot of highlights during his outstanding, record-setting 2023 season, and only one of his 54 home runs traveled farther than the one he hit on June 15 at home. That blast, his 19th of the season, came off Colorado’s Pierce Johnson. With a full count, Olson connected with a low fastball and drove it deep into the seats in right-center field. The 456-foot home run had an exit velocity of 109.5 mph.

2. 464 feet: May 28, 2023, at Truist Park

Olson led baseball with 54 home runs in 2023, and the longest that he hit during that memorable season was his 15th. It came in May at home — a towering shot against Philadelphia’s Dylan Covey that traveled 464 feet. The baseball left Olson’s bat at 111.7 mph and flew deep into the seats in right-center field at Truist Park.

1. 475 feet: May 31, 2018, at Oakland Coliseum

Olson has hit a lot of home runs for the Braves in recent years, but the longest of his career came when he was a member of the Oakland A’s. The slugger absolutely punished a curveball from Tampa Bay’s Ryan Yarbrough, sending the baseball 475 feet to right-center field. The homer had an exit velocity of 112.7 mph and was the eighth-longest hit in the big leagues in 2018.
