In this list, we’re counting down the longest home runs at Oriole Park at Camden Yards through the 2023 season. It’s important to note that these home runs are only from 2015 onward, when MLB’s Statcast began to officially track the distance of each MLB home run. (All videos appear courtesy of MLB.)
When any baseball fan thinks about long home runs in Baltimore, they almost certainly think back to the MLB Home Run Derby in 1993, when Ken Griffey Jr. hit a baseball off the warehouse behind Eutaw Street — a shot that was estimated to have traveled 465 feet. An impressive feat, to be sure. But what about home runs in MLB games?
Here’s a look at the 10 longest home runs at Oriole Park at Camden Yards in Baltimore.
8 (t). Alex Rodriguez — 460 feet
After being suspended for the entire 2014 season, Alex Rodriguez surprised a lot of people by hitting 33 home runs in 2015 at the age of 39. His second of that year came in Baltimore on April 15. Rodriguez drilled a fastball from Bud Norris 460 feet with an exit velocity of 111.1 mph. The line drive home run landed deep in left-center field. (No video available.)
8 (t). Lourdes Gurriel Jr. — 460 feet
The 21 home runs that Lourdes Gurriel Jr. hit for the Blue Jays in 2021 were a career high, and the longest of those blasts came at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. Gurriel Jr. got a quick swing on an inside hanging curveball from Mike Baumann and drove the ball over the cross-aisle in the seats in left-center field. The baseball left Gurriel Jr.’s bat at 108.5 mph and traveled 460 feet.
7 (t). Miguel Cabrera — 462 feet
Miguel Cabrera hit 38 home runs in 2016, with the longest coming in Baltimore on May 14. The ball flew 462 feet to left-center field, bouncing off the roof of the visitors bullpen. Cabrera’s home run had an exit velocity of 110.7 mph and was the 21st-longest home run hit in the majors that season. It’s also the longest (during the Statcast era) of Cabrera’s career.
7 (t). Gunnar Henderson — 462 feet
One of two 2023 entries on this list came on June 11, off the bat of 21-year-old rookie infielder Gunnar Henderson, who launched a slider from Kansas City’s Jackson Kowar 462 feet onto Eutaw Street. Although it’s only the seventh longest at Oriole Park in the Statcast era, it’s actually the longest home run to land on Eutaw Street. The blast to right-center field, which left Henderson’s bat at 113.8 mph, bounced once and hit the warehouse.
6. Austin Hays — 464 feet
The longest home run of outfielder Austin Hays’s career to date came in Baltimore during a rainy game on June 7, 2022. Hays turned on an inside changeup from Alec Mills and drove the baseball 464 feet down the third base line. It managed to just stay fair and landed in the second deck — offering a souvenir for a fan who’d stuck around during the rain. The home run, Hays’s seventh of the season and the 15th-longest hit in the big leagues in 2022, had an exit velocity of 106.9 mph.
4 (t). Aaron Judge — 465 feet
Given all the games that the Yankees play in Baltimore each year, it only seems fitting that Aaron Judge holds a spot on this list. Judge smashed his 36th home run of his record-breaking 2022 season against the Orioles on July 22, sending a changeup from Tyler Wells 465 feet over the bullpens in left-center field. Of the 62 home runs that Judge hit in 2022, none traveled farther than this one, which left his bat at 113.5 mph.
4 (t). Manny Machado — 465 feet
Manny Machado hit 33 home runs for the Orioles in 2017, and the longest one he hit at home came against Boston on June 2. Machado ripped a slider from Rick Porcello down the left field line, with the ball deflecting off the facing of the second deck. The blast, Machado’s 11th of the season, traveled 465 feet and had an exit velocity of 114.3 mph.
3. Edwin Encarnación — 466 feet
After hitting 239 home runs during his eight years with the Blue Jays, Edwin Encarnación suited up for Cleveland in 2017 and hit one of the longest bombs of his career in Baltimore. The home run in question came on June 20 off a Chris Tillman slider. Encarnación turned on the inside pitch and drove it 466 feet into the second deck in left field. The home run had an exit velocity of 110.9 mph and was Encarnación’s 17th of a 38-home run reason.
2. Ryan Mountcastle — 472 feet
Ryan Mountcastle hit 18 home runs for the O’s in 2023, and the longest of these was an August 8 blast against Astros starter Framber Valdez. With an 0-2 count, Mountcastle clobbered a hanging off-speed pitch with an exit velocity of 113.1 mph and drove the baseball 472 feet onto the concourse behind the bullpens in center field.
1. Carlos Correa — 474 feet
The longest home run at Oriole Park at Camden Yards during the Statcast era came off the bat of Houston’s Carlos Correa on August 10, 2019. Correa crushed a fastball from Aaron Brooks, driving the ball 474 feet to the concourse behind the bullpens in left-center field.
