Come for the food and stay for the ballgame. Frontier Field boasts a selection of food that not only rivals any stadium in Minor League Baseball, it’s on par with many Big League facilities, too. Of course, if nachos and hot dogs are what you desire, you can find these items here. But items that aren’t typically ballpark fare may stretch your food horizons. Frontier Field is known for several food items, including white hot dogs (a popular item in the region), specialty macaroni and cheese, garbage plates and several barbecue-style items.
White hot dogs, often called white hots, taste slightly different than regular dogs and you’ll see many people eating them. Frontier Field’s mac and cheese is delicious, and if you’re an adventurous eater, kick things up a notch with a flavored bowl such as Buffalo chicken. This dish contains mac and cheese, bleu cheese sauce, chicken chunks and hot sauce. At sandwich concession stands such as Red Osier, you can red prime rib on a bun with a baked potato, and if you’re on a diet, the Altobelli Deli sells items including wraps, veggie burgers and subs.
The allergy-free stand offers items free of gluten, nuts and dairy. These selections include pizza, nachos and tuna melts. Other unique items sold throughout Frontier Field’s many concessions include sweet potato fries, calamari, BBQ sandwiches, fruit crepes, calzones, chili, flowering onions and the popular Friday night fish fry. The ballpark also includes a Starbucks in the concourse behind home plate.
If lounging with a cold drink and watching the game on TV is your preference, the 10th Inning Bar is located under the third base-side bleachers. It has a number of beers on tap, tables, chairs and airs the Red Wings broadcast.
