PNC Field is nestled into an area surrounded by trees and a rock cut. This location means you won’t find much to see and do within a reasonable walking distance from the park, but that doesn’t mean your hours before and after the game have to be empty. Take Glenmaura National Boulevard, which runs off Montage Mountain Road, and you’ll soon find a wealth of eating and shopping spots. Whether you’re looking for a quick bite (Quinzos, Panera Bread and Gourmet Slice) or would rather sit down for a meal (Ruby Tuesday, an Italian restaurant and a seafood restaurant), you’ll find it here. A movie theater and dozens of stores in the area make up what’s known as the Shoppes at Montage.
While you’re in the area, don’t miss visiting an outstanding lookout spot that allows you to get a bird’s eye view of PNC Field. To do so, turn right off Glenmaura National Boulevard onto Barrett Drive and follow the road a short distance until it ends in a parking lot. Grab your camera and stand at the edge of the parking lot and you’ll have a perfect view of the ballpark from above.
If you plan to stay in the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre area for a day or two, other attractions that might catch your eye include the Lackawanna Coal Mine Tour, Mohegan Sun Casino at Pocono Downs and the Houdini Museum.
